What is SEO and Why it Matters?

If you are a business owner or anybody who has a website, you’ve definitely heard of SEO. It is a phrase that has been mystified for a very long time. It can be confusing to a lot of people who don’t know how to get people to their websites and online businesses. It is, however, extremely important.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO decides if people can find you, and find you quickly, on google or not. If you have good SEO people will find you quickly and you’ll attract more people to your website. There are generally three types of SEO; technical SEO, on-site SEO, and off-site SEO.

Technical SEO usually includes indexing your site with Google, submitting the right files, and making sure there are no technical issues with your site. On-site SEO means optimizing the content on your site for search engines, while also keeping it user-friendly. This has to be constantly maintained. Off-site SEO includes; creating backlinks to your site, doing advertising campaigns, managing PPC, and much more. This can often be the most expensive part.

In order to get your site or business to the top of search engine result pages(SERPs), you need to excel in all three kinds of SEO. Does that seem too complicated, confusing, tedious, and time-consuming? Well, you’re not alone. SEO is not easy, and not everybody has the resources or time to delve into the finer details. That is why the average small business in America spends at least $500 a month in SEO.
